Color Photographs from 1939-1945

1,600 color photographs from the Depression/World War II era. I seem to remember seeing this a few months ago, but they've come up again now that the Library of Congress will be exhibiting a selection.

I'm glad you posted this - cnn.com has a group of 12 or so and they're amazing. Good place to look for a quick sample.

There are so many it's hard to go through, but the ones form Southington, CT are kinda creepy - save the car style, they could be memorial day parades last year in simsbury.

I agree that those pix of Southington are rather creepy. I guess I just picture life in the 30's taking place in black and white or in the dreary gray of movies portraying that time. I also picture it raining a lot.

I think I saw the Southington picture you mentioned, which really brings home the age of the place, since the LA ones are about high schoolers training for the war effort.
