Street Installations by Mark Jenkins

I'd be surprised if anyone even realized that the homeless guy without a face wasn't a real person. People aren't often interested in checking to make sure their local homeless guy has a face... if he doesn't ask for money everybody thinks they've gotten off light and are happy to move on.

I sort of like the fact that it's subtle enough that people are going to be too self-absorbed to notice that it's not a real person.

After watching the video I found myself desperately wishing that he had rigged the doll to move via remote control and have it scare the bejesus out of those people.

Would have been great.

I like the installations, but the photos of them are great too, and in some cases seem out of whack too, like the one where the dude has the lamp.

The faceless homeless guy is so creepy and it looks like the little girl is creeped out, or maybe she is the only one who takes the time to notice that he isn't real. Maybe she is more innocent and caring, or maybe she has a better angle on his missing face.

I'll have to check out the video.
