The New Yorker on Wikipedia

Somewhat off topic: The LA Times ran an article denouncing Wikipedia yesterday, from an academic who was displeased that it only concentrated on the sexier parts of his resume. I'm tempted to conclude that he's just publicly airing a bruised ego and some fundamental misconceptions about how the Internet works, but he may have a point about it being hard to guarantee that the information is right. It's just that unlike him, I'm not expecting otherwise.

In any case, it's heartening that Wikipedia is as accurate and legit-sounding as it is. It's nice when de-centralized collaborative projects actually WORK.
