Frozen in Grand Central

Another classic stunt by Improv Everywhere in New York City: they had over 200 people freeze at the same time in the middle of Grand Central Station. (via bb)

THanks. Fixed.

Videography by agent Carbone, eh? And it looked suspiciously like a professionally done reality show. Anyone care to comment?

The audio was great. Obviously the people talking were plants, but how did they get that maintenance worker's audio. I still like The Best Buy one better.

The Rodenator | Fri, 02/01/2008 - 2:55pm

yeah, the maintenance worker is a great get. and the timing couldn't have been more perfect.

Very cool. Thanks for sharing.

My favorite line from the Best Buy prank: "Thomas Crown Affair! Thomas Crown Affair!"

I wish I had videotaped the time me and 8 or so friends went to see Being John Malkovich opening weekend, all wearing John Malkovich masks. We stopped into a bookstore before hitting the cinema, and the employees thought we were robbing the store.

crazymonk | Fri, 02/01/2008 - 3:09pm

I always thought that you guys put the mask on during the "Malkovich Malkovich" scene, rather than arriving with them on.

isn't there a picture somewhere of all of you on the subway?

Jon May | Fri, 02/01/2008 - 11:10pm

We hadn't seen the movie before -- how would we have known? No, we took the subway, went to the bookstore, and went to the movie with our masks on. We took them off when it started.

I don't think there's a picture of us, Jon, but I remember it vividly.

I think the audio from the maintenance guy was dubbed in later. It felt fake.

At first I thought RD was crazy, but I think he is right. That audio is fake. Now I imagine it is what he was saying (as recounted or taped by those near him). But how would they get a direct feed into his walkie, which is what the audio is made to sound like? They couldn't. Also, his lips aren't quite matching. Interesting.

If there's one thing I should have any authority in, it's picking up on inauthenticities online. That's my bread and butter. I'm the king of the authentic.
