New geothermal plant opens in Reno

A new geothermal plant has opened near Reno, in the Steamboat Springs hot springs area 10 miles south of downtown.

Galena 3, Ormat Technologies' newest geothermal plant at the Steamboat complex, is up and running. Together, officials say, the seven plants generate enough electricity to power Reno's residential needs.

Pretty cool.

Wait, they have hot springs in Reno? Why have I never heard of this? Either nobody's thought to put up a spa there, or they have but it's so exclusive that they don't need to advertise to peons like me.

Here's one spa:

Nevada is filled with naturally occurring hot springs, but I haven't visited any yet, whether developed or not.
