The Hamas version of Mickey Mouse. I've been aggressively told that this is "blogworthy."

Ed Burns and David Simon, the creators behind HBO's now-recognized-as-the-best-show-ever The Wire, are developing for HBO a seven episode scripted miniseries following Marines in the early days of the Iraq invasion. I hope they bring the same subtly and complex realism that they've carried The Wire on. (via aicn)

Errol Morris recently spoke at the Chicago Humanities Festival, giving more details about his Abu Ghraib documentary.
Morris's presentation mostly talked about that idea of the iconic photograph. What can we learn from them? To what extent are they posed or performance? An interesting aspect about the Abu Ghraib project is that Morris has the opportunity to interview the photographers. We have an opportunity for more context than just the images themselves.

I would be remiss not to offer this up to debate. The current Israel-Lebanon crisis: what are your thoughts on this? Is Israel's violent response justified by Hezbollah's actions? Are they nipping a problem in the bud before it gets more out-of-hand? Are they overreacting out of fear and fustration? Are they playing into the hands of Iran? How does this affect the Bush administration's policies?
