Shepard Smith, perhaps the only ethical person working for Fox News, finally tires of the network's moral equivocation.

No Torture, No Exceptions. The Washington Monthly has devoted their entire latest issue to arguing that all torture should be stopped. It includes 37 short essays on the subject, with the list of authors including Bob Barr, Jimmy Carter, Chris Dodd, and Nancy Pelosi.

The UN Committee Against Torture concluded last week that the use of Taser guns constitutes a "form of torture" and also recognized its lethal capabilities. I feel like the tide is beginning to turn on this issue, although I'm not convinced that there isn't an ethical and legal way for police departments to use tasers -- but I am convinced that whatever that way is, it's not yet a matter of policy. Watch Matt Lauer confront Bush on the torture issue. Bush looks like he's going to sock Lauer in the face a few times, and then starts dodging the question. (via as)

Andrew Sullivan on Bush's "We do not torture" lie. There has never been better evidence that Bush is untruthful to the American public, and trust me, I've never been into the whole "Bush Lies" campaign.
