I should start taking pictures of the homemade Obama stuff in West LA. Some of it is creepy in a mindless-follower-seeming kinda way, which I think is what you were getting at with your criticism of the seal. For example, one house has a banner with Barack Obama's face on a penny.

The penny thing doesn't frighten me as much, because it's coming from a supporter rather than the campaign. Now if the campaign were selling Obama pennies on their website, that'd be hubris.

Big deal. It's too early to worry about this stuff. Messaging and symbols are key for winning- and these messages are not in any way stomping on something sacred (to me at least). But if you were really married to that shield being on a podium, you perhaps are the weirdo. Obama doesn't need another mini-controversy spreading around.

Obama-As-Antichristers would be a great name for my new noise band. Good work.

Also, the Obama logo's eagle looks less like our standard US bald eagle, and more like the Nazi eagle.
